Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove issued a memo to the acting FBI director on Friday instructing him to dismiss eight FBI employees and identify all current and former bureau personnel assigned to cases related to Jan. 6 and Hamas for an internal review, as per Fox News sources.

The memo, obtained by Fox News, accuses the FBI employees of being untrustworthy to carry out President Donald Trump’s agenda. The memo, titled “Terminations,” outlines a series of directives concerning personnel matters at the FBI.

Bove, a former Trump defense attorney, directed the acting FBI Director Brian Driscoll to terminate eight specific FBI employees by Monday, Feb. 3. The memo states that the Justice Department cannot rely on these employees to faithfully implement President Trump’s agenda.

The memo references President Trump’s remarks on his first day back in office, where he criticized the Biden administration’s law enforcement and intelligence agencies for targeting his political adversaries. Bove’s memo emphasizes the need to address deficiencies in previous FBI leadership, particularly concerning events at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and the Hamas case.

In addition to the terminations, Bove instructed Driscoll to compile a list of all FBI personnel involved in the Jan. 6 and Hamas cases for further review. The directive encompasses thousands of employees nationwide who supported these investigations.

Driscoll, in a letter to bureau employees, confirmed the directive to terminate the specified employees unless they retire beforehand. He assured employees that decisions would be made following the law, FBI policies, and the best interests of the workforce and the American people.

The FBI declined to comment on any personnel matters, including names, titles, or numbers. This directive follows the dismissal of key officials from special counsel Jack Smith’s team by Acting Attorney General James McHenry earlier in the week.

The memo comes after whistleblower emails were shared with Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, revealing allegations of misconduct by a former FBI agent in relation to the 2020 election probe. President Trump’s nominee for FBI director, Kash Patel, also testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

President Trump, while denying involvement in the DOJ directive, praised the decision to dismiss individuals he labeled as corrupt. He reiterated claims that the FBI was weaponized against him and conservatives, echoing ongoing investigations into the agency’s conduct during his presidency.

In conclusion, the DOJ’s directive to terminate FBI employees and review past cases reflects ongoing efforts to address perceived misconduct and restore integrity within the bureau. The actions taken are in line with President Trump’s agenda to combat corruption and ensure accountability within law enforcement agencies.
