NFL Draft: Jalen Milroe, Dillon Gabriel taken over Shedeur Sanders

Shedeur Sanders, once considered a potential top-five overall pick, ended up not even being among the top five quarterbacks taken in the 2025 NFL Draft. Cam Ward and Jaxson Dart were selected in the first round, while Tyler Shough was chosen by the New Orleans Saints with the 40th pick.

The Seattle Seahawks made a surprising move by selecting Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe with the 92nd pick. Despite not being known for his arm strength, scouts believe Milroe possesses exceptional raw athleticism.

Three picks later, the Cleveland Browns opted for Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel over Sanders. The Seahawks had previously traded Geno Smith to the Raiders and signed Sam Darnold to a lucrative three-year deal.

Sanders expressed surprise at falling into the second night of the draft, as he had expected to be selected earlier. Milroe, on the other hand, showcased his talents at Alabama by throwing for 5,678 yards and rushing for 1,257 over his last two seasons.

Gabriel, who transferred to Oregon for his final year of NCAA eligibility, finished third in the Heisman Trophy vote last season. He led the Big Ten in completions and attempts, throwing for 3,857 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Quinn Ewers is another notable quarterback still awaiting his draft selection. The unfolding events in the draft have kept fans on the edge of their seats, with unexpected picks and surprising decisions shaping the future of the league.
