Body of missing Washington state grandmother found buried under shed in concrete
Authorities in Washington state recently made a horrifying discovery when they found the remains of a missing grandmother buried under a shed and partially encased in concrete. The victim, Marcia Norman, 82, was reported missing by her family on April 4 to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO).
Family members became concerned when they had not heard from Norman since April 1, and her cars were still parked at her house, indicating she may have left abruptly. Detectives from TCSO identified Norman’s handyman, Jeffrey Zizz, 47, as a person of interest in her disappearance. It was revealed that Zizz and Norman had dinner together on the night she went missing, making him the last person known to have seen her.
Following this lead, a search warrant was obtained for a shed that Zizz had recently built at a separate property in Olympia, just one day before Norman was reported missing. During the excavation of the ground beneath the shed on April 9, authorities uncovered human remains buried under the building, some of which were encased in concrete. The Thurston County Coroner’s Office later confirmed that the remains belonged to Norman.
Zizz, who was already on probation for a previous child molestation conviction, fled the state following Norman’s disappearance, violating the terms of his sentence. He was apprehended by Montana authorities at a motel in Missoula and extradited back to Washington.
Despite being the primary person of interest in the ongoing investigation, Zizz has not yet been charged in connection with Norman’s death. He remains in custody at the Thurston County Jail on a no-bail hold while law enforcement continues to gather evidence in the case.
