Red Sox fan catches foul ball with own food

It’s not uncommon for fans to bring gloves to a baseball game in hopes of snagging a foul ball, but one Boston Red Sox fan took a different approach when a liner came his way during a game at Fenway Park. Instead of using a glove, this creative fan used his food to catch the ball.

During the top of the fifth inning, Toronto Blue Jays infielder Bo Bichette fouled a sweeper from Walker Buehler, sending the ball directly towards the fan in the gray Sox jersey. The fan quickly reacted by using his meal as a makeshift glove, making an impressive catch.

Meanwhile, Bichette was left regretting his swing as he hit his head with his bat after swinging at a pitch that was practically in the opposing batter’s box. However, he may have found some consolation in the fan’s clever catch.

This fan wasn’t the only one making headlines at Fenway Park this week. In a game the day before, another fan managed to catch two different foul balls using a traditional glove. The Red Sox ended up winning the game in extra innings, further adding to the excitement at the ballpark.

With a 4-3 victory on Thursday, the Red Sox improved to 7-7 in what is shaping up to be a competitive race in the AL East. They tied the game in the eighth inning thanks to a wild pitch that brought Rob Refsnyder home from third base, ultimately securing the win in the bottom of the 10th.

Looking ahead, the Red Sox will face the Chicago White Sox in a three-game series over the weekend, providing an opportunity to further solidify their position in the division standings.
