Police bust 3 thrill seekers in bathroom stall after trio spotted atop iconic Nashville building

Three men were busted by police in Nashville after an alert citizen called 911 to report seeing the men at the top of the AT&T Building on Sunday. The iconic skyscraper, often referred to as “The Batman Building” due to its resemblance to the caped crusader, became the scene of a daring escapade that ultimately led to the arrest of the trespassers.

Just before 5 p.m., a witness called police after noticing three men who appeared suspicious on top of the AT&T Building. The caller described the situation as strange, noting that it was a Sunday and the individuals did not appear to be working. With the help of binoculars, officers were able to spot the men on the building, one near a spire and another lying down on the circular AT&T logo.

The men told police they gained access to the building through an unsecured door. Despite a search by officers and a police helicopter crew, the men eluded capture until they were found hiding together in a locked bathroom stall on the 24th floor just before 6:30 p.m. They were taken into custody and identified as Jacob Thomas Cieszynski, Chase Cooper Lester, and Ryan James McGarrity, all from out-of-state.

The trespassers are facing charges of aggravated trespassing and disorderly conduct. Additionally, Lester is charged with possessing burglary tools as a crowbar and a screwdriver were found in his backpack. Cameras, including a GoPro, were also seized from the men.

One of the men admitted that they had heard the AT&T Building offered the best view of Nashville, prompting them to enter and climb to the roof. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of alert citizens reporting suspicious activity to authorities. Nashville Metropolitan Police Public Affairs Director Don Aaron emphasized the significance of vigilance in ensuring community safety.
